Completely redesigned for 2013, the Ford Escape is a compact crossover that is available with three different engines: 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine (168 hp/170 lb-ft of torque), 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine (178 hp/173 lb-ft of torque), and 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine (240 hp/231 lb-ft of torque). Standard FWD and optional 4WD are both paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission that enables the Escape to achieve an EPA estimated range of 21 mpg city to 33 mpg highway. Features include heated leather seats, panoramic sunroof, navigation system, power lift gate, SYNC, and a towing capacity of 3,500 lbs. Safety is comprised of advanced airbags, stability control, anti-lock braking, anti-rollover technology, and tire pressure monitoring. The Escape is backed by a 3-year/36,00-mile warranty.

The 2013 Ford Escape is a brand-new vehicle. Gone are the truck-like proportions and feel; now replaced by a modern functional and compact design hailing the new Escape as a truly global vehicle. Though still considered a small SUV, a much greater emphasis has been put on efficiency and clever design features than on previous models. The Escape is available with three engine choices and comes standard with front wheel drive. All-wheel drive is available with the more powerful engines.

Model Strengths

Ford has four distinct trim models for the 2013 Escape. S, SE, SEL and Titanium. The S is the base version and comes standard with front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is an option for the rest of the trim levels and adds about $1800 to the price of the vehicle. SE versions get a voice activated version of Ford's SYNC entertainment and communication system allowing for hands free activation of Bluetooth enabled phones and USB connected MP3 players. SEL trims include a brand new version of MyFord touch, enabling touchscreen controls on a dashboard mounted 8-inch LCD screen. Leather seats are standard on the SEL version and the front seats are heated. Top of the line Titanium edition Escapes get a premium interior, 19-inch rims and a 10 speaker audio system by Sony.
